Opening Hours

Visit us Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 4.30pm.

We are closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Between 1 April and 31 October we are also open on Sunday afternoons - 12.30pm to 4.30pm.

The museum is part of the ‘town ticket’ scheme – offering reduced entry to Richmond’s main attractions.

Getting here

Car

Richmond is just 10 minutes from the A1 and A66.  The museum is in the centre of the market place.
Parking discs are available from the museum and most shops in the market place.  Displaying the disc in your car gives you up to 2 hours FREE parking (8am – 6pm Monday – Saturday). There is unrestricted parking in the market place on Sundays.   There are short stay and long stay car parks throughout the town.

Disabled (restricted to 3 hours) and motorcycle parking bays are available outside the museum.

Rail
The nearest railway station is Darlington. There is a regular bus service that picks up outside the station and stops opposite the museum.

Bus

Coach

Coaches can drop off passengers at the back of the museum.  Free coach parking is available in the Long Stay car park at Nuns Close.

Visiting Richmond

There’s lots to do in Richmond; a historic Georgian market town overlooked by an imposing Norman castle.

As well as the shops, pubs, cafes and scenic riverside walks, you can also visit The Station, The Georgian Theatre Royal and The Richmondshire Museum.

School visits take place as part of our education programme.

Our museum shop is open for business, stocking a lovely range of Green Howards clothing and memorabilia as well as books, gifts and homeware.  Visit us Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Room hire

Normanby Room
